Assemblies
We collectively worship every day, with our assemblies based around the termly key value. We are lucky to have visits from Rev. Geoff Bayliss and Open The Book to share stories from the Bible.
The week of collective worship looks like this:
Monday
We have a whole-school collective worship with Steve Dew, the Head Teacher. Each assembly is based on the key value of the term:
Term | Value |
1 | Thankfulness |
2 | Love and Friendship |
3 | Peace |
4 | Forgiveness |
5 | Trust |
6 | Moral Courage |
At each of these assemblies, children share and discuss ideas on a specific aspect of the value.
Tuesday
Open The Book, a group of people from St James Church, visit us on Tuesdays to reenact stories from the Bible and retell the lessons from these stories. Children are always involved in the dramatic aspects of the assembly.
Wednesday
We have singing assemblies on Wednesdays, run by either Mr Peacock in KS1 or Mr Whiting in KS2. We sing a wide range of songs and even perform these to the parents.
Thursday
Rev. Geoff Bayliss from St. James Church visits us on a Thursday for a whole-school assembly on our term's key value and how stories from the Bible relate to this.
Friday
Friday is celebration worship, where we congratulate and recognise the hard work and effort that children have put in over the week. We have two types of certificates: an achievement award for children who have excelled in a particular area of learning or who have shown resilience or strength, and Class Ambassador for children who have demonstrated aspects of our key value by supporting others or being a good friend.
