Responsible Citizens
We give children a voice and support them to develop how they challenge ideals in society, feeling confident to discuss their views on difficult topics like social justice, slavery, immigration, the rights of the child and political issues like the Windrush.
Giving children the ability to listen to different views and being critical of what they read and hear enables them to be confident in their viewpoints and willing to fight for the causes they believe in.
This is thoroughly developed in throughout our curriculum. Your child will learn how to become a responsible citizen through understanding the struggles of others, their cause and the action that helped change society. We include debates, presentations and letters to authorities as outcomes during topic lessons so that children understand what responsible action and 'fighting for a worthy cause' looks like.
