Vision

Our vision is embedded in everything we do at Church Cowley. We aim that all in the school community will have "life in its fullness" (John 10:10): they will be successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors to society.

SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS

We aim for all children, no matter their background, ability or experience to be successful at learning new things. We have an approach to learning in that we champion the mistakes and errors it takes to become an expert at something, and our curriculum enables children to learn a diverse set of skills to support their learning for now and the future.

CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS

We encourage children to express themselves, and our creative curriculum helps them build confidence in everything they do. We support all children to be confident by building personal positive relationships with each individual child, working closely with them in every lesson to give them exactly what they need to succeed.

We have street dance classes in our dance studio and music lessons where children can learn everything from ukulele or djembe drums to a full-blown rock band.

We also have an incredible forest school where children can explore wildlife and a fully functional allotment in which the children grow fruit and vegetables used in our healthy school lunches.

RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS

We give children a voice and support them to develop how they challenge ideals in society, feeling confident to discuss their views on difficult topics like social justice, slavery, immigration, the rights of the child and political issues like the Windrush.

Giving children the ability to listen to different views and being critical of what they read and hear enables our children to be confident in their viewpoints and willing to fight for the causes they believe in.

EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS TO SOCIETY

We believe we all play a role in creating the positive community we live in, both in school and in the wider area. We champion social change and community organising to make where we live and work the best place it can be.
